The grip of the sands

Yesterday's post on Hogintu, themed around 21.

- - - - - -

Average life expectancy on Hogintu - as well as can be determined by those itinerant talleers who take an interest - is 41. This is of course 41 in the base five system of the habbers-on, which is to say 21 years by the Old Earth count of the sixers.

Twenty-one years is little time to achieve all there is to achieve, and faith in the future is very often desperate, inflated, collapsing into despair as life nears its close. That sense of the utter pointlessness of existence which can strike those not caught up in a current scheme or striving for the Blootrio to the very last breath may lead to extreme acts.

Common in these late days is the leaving of all sandly possessions for a journeying out into the dunes; to wrestle the great and terrible sanskwid, and in the attempt to perish.

Rule: The playtest stats and solo encounter pattern for the sanskwid, given for the new game system. If it's not a character's end yet, just hope a smaller specimen emerges...

Sanskwid

1  |  3-5  |  Subterranean  Sandblast [Ranged [Short]  Powerful]  Tentacles [Pin  Constrict]

1 | Enter beneath Character
2 | Attack nearest [1-3] > above Range 0, Approach | at Range 0, Attack
3 | at Score 2, Retreat [1-3] > Attack nearest [1-2]
4 | at Score 1, Leave
