Here's the WIP mentioned last post. The Drune put out a call for pics for pulp science fantasy RPG, Humanspace Empires and I couldn't help myself - lack of talent or not.
I'm playing Payákár in the online playtest at Spaceswords & Glory, an eight-limbed alien Páchi Léi, so it seemed natural to go that general route and see what I could come up with. Checking the Humanspace Empires pdf now - free to download by the way, via this post - I'd need an extra finger and thumb to have this guy double as a Páchi Léi.
Again, this is just a work in progress of course, a very long way from being a finished piece. If you'd change anything at all, let me know. I'm after feedback in general.

To give a quick overview, the big issue was working out how a four-legged, four-armed alien might move, without drawing too consciously on the quadrupeds we know about. At the beginning I could only imagine a rather sluglike creature, but I've tried to move away from that and hopefully into something more like a crocodilian insectoid centaur.
I've gone with heavy, muscular legs, multiple limb segments and the lower pair of arms set back a little. Again, I've added no opposable thumb on any of the upper limbs, imagining there'd be less need with two more arms than we have, as well as the platform the front haunches provide. If I carry on with it, I might add them and the extra finger.
It's worth mentioning the Páchi Léi themselves are asexual and reproduce by budding from protuberances. This alien has a look that seems to combine our sense of male and female, which wasn't planned, but I'm willing to leave it in with this being pulp.
I've added my take on the protuberance idea to an area on the front right leg and I'll likely continue across the whole body if there'll be no clothing. I'm not sure there needs to be clothing without dimorphism. Is that reasonable? There might be no astrobiologists reading, but I'd bet most of us have thought plenty about alien development. When it comes to warmth, I'm imagining the protruberances could work rather like our skin and hairs, changing to trap air or move blood - if the lifeform has any - to or from the surface.
I'm also assuming there'll be a utility belt and panniers on the rear haunches. The arm there is supposed to be at rest, but it could be reaching into a pannier instead.

Hope to see you tonight.

Nice, its looking like a very porky kind of day with an alien that simply won't go your way. With blaster in hand the creature came to the area ready to deal death in his chubby little hand while squealing the entire day!
PIGGSSS IN SPACCCCEEEE!!
Very nice! Man!
@ Jingle Poetry - I'm glad you keep reminding me - there's a lot going on and it's hard to stay on top of it all. It might be too late this week, but inspiration could always strike.
@ Needles - Thanks, and not bad on the rhyme. That's a bit of cross-pollination. You should think about Jingle's invitation - put some of your usual imagination into a poem and you'd create quite a stir..!
Nice sketch--how goes work on this?
Slowly. I spent the weekend tweaking rules and working on layout and hardly saw anything else hobby-related. It's definitely slipped down the queue, but even though it's sitting under a couple of other sheets at the moment, it's still at the front of my mind and just waiting to be picked up again.
