Future War Stories has a post up at the moment on potential conflict after some of us leave Earth; that there'll be conflict seems supported by this table at The Dungeon Dozen on fighter motives.
I'm not convinced though. Will anyone be allowed to leave without loyalty to the senders written into their nature? If we can see it now, why wouldn't they aim to prevent it? I take the view that future conflict won't look much like pulp laser blaster conventions or current warfare translated forwards; it could be heavily internalised, more so even than it is now.
On the surface that doesn't look good for today's line-up-knock-down gaming and wider fiction, but here I'd also argue otherwise - is it time we got more subtle in our thinking?
