There are quite a few creative events running at the minute, more than for a while it seems, for charity, prizes or the fun of it. Here's what I know about...
Writing, and maybe drawing too
Hallowe'en is the prompt for two of them. Fenway5 wants31 system-free scary adventures, but small enough to fit on a 4"x6" index card. The details are here at Sword & Shield. Also on the horror theme is Tim's Monstrous Monday blogfest at The Other Side, for a creature-related post, with stats or not.
Update: Too few of us were up for the index card challenge, but there might be a series.

With more space for material there's the Viking-themed one-page dungeon contest at Ramblings of a Great Khan and The Secret DM's dungeon crawl contest. There's also Matt's draconic lair still to finish - you might find this summary a useful starting point.
Drawing
The Community Geomorph Project is still running at Save Vs. Dragon for new map tiles to go into a pdf. David Millar of Dave's Mapper fame is also hosting a charity event where donations trigger pledges to create new tiles, so there are two ways to help.

Also for charity, and if you're interested in Pulp City or want to try painting pink, there's the Pulp City drive. Ron has some advice for pink in Friday's post at From the Warp.
If I've missed anything, feel free to leave a link.
Update: If you're thinking about taking your ideas even further, Loquacious has started the new series at House of Paincakes on publishing gaming material. It's a follow-up to the Intelligent Design series. The intro is here and the first part on playtesting is here.
