Here's no. 11 of my 20 sites in Sector V3. It's for Kepler 22-B, a collaborative worldbuilding project for gaming. If you'd like to fill a sector, read this.
Hex 63.50 An intense distortion in the magnetosphere is centred on this region of sea, a cerise aurora billowing over waves capped with debris gathered by a local gyre. The wreckage is largely vehicular, varied in terms of its material, insignia and state of decay.
While the region is clear of the algal mat, the water is clouded with its constituent cells, apparently modified by the elecromagnetism and supporting an emerging ecosystemic node. Hyloelectric reeds crowd the seabed, climbing to the western shore and beyond.
The source of the electromagnetism underpinning the ecosystem is a large element of debris, a solid plasma fuselage section suspended vertically just below the surface by compressed gas in the upper compartments, and encrusted with arthropod species.
At the lower end is a compact chamber. If approached through the interior, a pulse of radiation will dislodge ancient colonies of encrusters to reveal the entrance. If opened, magnetic fields and currents generated by superheating will suck in unsecured matter.
Within the chamber are several gastropodal beings linked supervoltaically, each highly individual in structure. These will together attempt to stun any arrivals before decaying and laterovolving the paralysed lifeforms into another of the circuit. Should supervoltaic communication prove possible, the group may consider compromise, even abstinance, awaiting more appropriate participants. They are patient, with plans which span aeons.
