Do you like shellfish and potatoes?

I have a guest post over at Hereticwerks today, on a creature called the Manitrude - a 'molluscotuberoid'.

I put it together on the basis of one of their pieces of artwork, the same piece they've used to make up the paper miniature here on the right. The mini is one of a series of three so far, with the Iron Pig and Toader.

The stats are for Labyrinth Lord, which is an old-school tactical roleplaying game like Mutant Future, and also free to download, but the info in the stats and write-up should be enough to adapt it to pretty much any game.

I recommend taking a look round the rest of the blog too, and saving the URL if you haven't yet, especially if you read the older NetherWerks or Objects of Chance.

They have a very distinctive style which mixes fantasy, sci-fi and horror in together, several settings and lots of pdfs in the sidebar, and the material just keeps coming.

Let me cruise over and check it out. Always room for another dangerous invertebrate.

Headed over to check it out.

How goes your day? Mine is nearly over now. Making supper (sandwiches), some dishes and to bed early.

@ Trey - My thinking too. We need more truly weird takes on monsters, in terms of construction, behaviour and interaction, like your tarrasque. Hereticwerks are great for this, and so is Needles, with all those outer parasites.

@ The Happy Whisk - It's pretty manic here on various fronts, but that's okay. I've just had a cheese sandwich and made a cup of tea and I'll soon be ready to dive back in.

Thanks for taking that monster and running with it Porky. We're going to be adding it into an upcoming play-test session for Mini-Adventure 3.

It was a lot of fun, and I'll happily do the second at some point too, if no one gets round to it in the meantime. It will be very cool to see it used in an adventure.

Hope your tea was good. I'm about to make a cup myself.

Good it was, and I've got another one right here now. Oil for the workings.

I just put the Manitrude in my links for The Warlord's Guide to Mars". It seems very appropriate as a species of Abmucoid. The tubers makes it perfect for long-term survival in the deep wastes of Barsoom.

Well I'm honoured. I had a look through those posts a couple of days ago and it's a fine collection.

I still have a soft spot for the Manitrude, partly because of the inspiration in the picture, but also for that Hereticwerks creative standard. It feels good that it links in with your work now too.
