Getting cut off

Wednesday today, meaning Diane Estrella's Microfiction Muse. It's open to all. The idea is to tell a story in 140 characters based on a photo. This time it's the one here.

"You listening?"
The line was dead. A flicker of light stood on the treetops and far off a fireball rose. Shock. A failure of communication.

I've noticed small changes in detailing the past day or two so maybe there's some tinkering going on. It's an arcane magic we don't have the XP to understand.

Makes me think of a nuclear explosion maybe not meant to be..... just me, I know! :O)

Nope, that's spot on, exactly what it's supposed to be suggesting.

It's always a relief when the intention comes through. I do tend to make flash fiction too complicated, more than the few words can realistically handle, and there are times I could be the only one who actually knows what's going on. I need to work on that.

Have you noticed I've been spelling your name interchangeably 'Diana' and 'Diane'? I've gone back and corrected the cases I can find. Sorry. I don't what I was thinking.

Oh your intention came through loud and clear...the line "failure of communication" is the absolute perfect tag line to your piece. Bravo!

I like the double entendre of "failure to communicate." Excellent!

Thanks - sometimes things just come together, and I did get lucky here with the suggestions in the photo.
