Fire in the sky
What a great custom this is. Inspiring stuff, even before we get to fictional uses. It's for the central and eastern European Ivan Kupala Day, or the Feast of St John the Baptist.
Poland is a country to miss. I feel for all the Poles pushed overseas throughout history, for all the unwilling diasporas in fact.
Someone clicked 'Say again?' for this post. Here I can't help so much. We need to read into the custom what we can. The link mentions the tradition of floating wreaths, for the purity and fertility associated with water and maybe the bonds it brings; I'd guess this is a development of that.

Love how they look against the dark sky.
Stunning and improved my well being by watching it.
Wow. That's beautiful. :)
What a great video, and a really great custom. It brightened up my afternoon all by itself. Thanks for posting!
I miss Poland, having lived just over the Tatras from it.
That's a very cool video, what an amazing effect the balloons make!
Pretty it is. Makes me feel good too.
